The elongated shape of the Silica molecules, unlike what has been done so far with common spherical molecular silica, allows for a new level of sophistication in the tread compound, resulting in improved handling thanks to the ability to orient the compound in the rolling direction. Furthermore, the enhancement of the mechanical resistance of the tread achieved by the improved interaction of Silica with other components (such as aramid fibers directly dispersed in the compound) increases protection against punctures and the durability of the rubber.
